Model: SS-J4
Crimp-on coax connections
Model: SS-J4A
Screw-on coax connections

These mounts were designed around the (97-99) Jeep Wranglers body styles. The mount allows the antenna to be mounted on either the left or right side of the vehicle. The stainless steel mount and support bracket are made from 12 guage (0.109") stainless steel. After the mount is installed, there will not be any visible mounting holes. All mounting hardware (also stainless steel) is hidden under the vehicles hood. Even though there were no installations on earlier model years, the mounting concept is very basic and the probability of these mounts working on pre-1997 Jeeps is high. Both mounts are complete with a standard 3/8"-24 threaded antenna mounting stud. Click here to see some installation photo's. If the vehicle is being used over severe terrain, the mount should be moved forward (closer to the fender bolt) for added stability. The design of the Jeep fender leaves a large portion of the fender unsupported near the windshield.

We have two Jeep fender mounts to choose from. The SS-J4 is to be used with coax cables that are terminated with crimp on ring terminals (ring terminals are supplied with the mount). The SS-J4A has a SO-239 stud mount making it compatible with all coax cables that are terminated with standard UHF PL-259's.

The upper bracket is 2" (51mm) wide and 3" (76mm) long. A slight angle on the inside edge of the bracket follows the angle of the hood line. To mount the bracket, two 1/4" holes need to be drilled in the inner fender lip. A 12 guage, 2" x 3/4" support plate installs on the bottm edge of the fender to add to the strength of the mount. We supply you with 1/4-20" stainless steel bolts, nuts and washers to secure the bracket to the vehicle. This bracket is also available in our mini-kit format so you can acquire the mount with our low-profile FireRing coax all in one package (and save some money to boot). Click here to see the MK-J4R mini-kit.

Note: The rearward part of the fender on newer Jeeps does not have the same support that was found in earlier models. On these vehicles we recommend that the bracket be mounted at least 8-inches (20cm) forward of the rear edge of the fender where it has sufficient support. If this is not followed, or if the rear part of the fender is not given additional support, the fender, dependent upon the antenna size, will flex from any whipping action of the antenna. Either mount may be used with heavy-duty Firestik antennas up to 48" (122cm). WHERE TO BUY?
